Описание к видео TOXINS LURKING IN YOUR KETTLE?

Plastic is everywhere because it is cheap and can be transformed into almost anything, with the addition of solvents, resins, plasticizers, etc. Although unavoidable in some cases, it is important to reduce exposure where possible as it can contain chemicals such as BPA (bisphenol A) that disrupt our endocrine system, reproductivity and brain development to name a few.

A study by the University of Cincinnati found that plastic drinking bottles exposed to boiling water released BPA at a rate 55 times more rapidly than when exposed to water at room temperature.

Previous studies also found that repeatedly scrubbing, washing, & sterilising polycarbonate baby bottles released BPA, which is why I opt for glass baby bottles with natural rubber teats… anyway I digress.

Taking this into consideration kettle wise, something most of us boil multiple times daily (I love a good cuppa or 6 ☕️), for years on end, the plastic parts in contact with the boiling water can degrade and leech toxins into the water. Not to mention plastic fragments, nickel & lead leaching etc.

Also note that if something states it is BPA free, beware 👀 as current research shows that BPA replacements (BPS, BPF etc.) are as bad as, if not worse than BPA.

Now, I’m not saying go and bin your current kettle and buy a new one. Binning something that works just fine and that you spent your hard-earned money on adds to the world’s current plastic problem. What I’m saying is, use what you have until it no longer serves, then when you need to upgrade you have this knowledge behind you to make a better decision for your family’s health.

I am all for doing it how our grandparents did, returning to a simpler way of living, I’m also all for finding ways to step out of consumerism and be self-sufficient while reducing toxins, which is why I’ve got my fully stainless-steel @essteeleau stove top kettle (no plastic lids/coatings or heating elements whatsoever) to avoid the whole toxin ordeal, ready for when our plastic kettle dies.

Have you checked the inside of your kettle for plastic?
