🔌⚫ Massive Blackout Hits Spain & Portugal! 😱 #PowerOutage #EuropeNews

Pain and Portugal were hit by a massive blackout on Monday, disrupting transportation, commerce, hospitals, and airports across both countries, including their capitals, Madrid and Lisbon. The Spanish national grid operator, Red Eléctrica, confirmed that large portions of the Iberian Peninsula lost power around midday local time. E-Redes, Portugal’s energy company, reported that the outage was not caused by a cyberattack, but by extreme temperature fluctuations inside Spain, leading to a phenomenon known as 'atmospheric-induced vibration' on high-voltage lines. These oscillations disrupted synchronization across the European interconnected power grid, causing widespread outages. The European Council President, Antonio Costa, said he’s been in contact with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, stressing there was no evidence of a cyberattack. Red Eléctrica called the incident 'exceptional' and estimated repairs could take between 6 and 10 hours. By late afternoon, electricity had started to return to parts of northern and southern Spain. Regions affected included Catalonia, Andalusia, Aragón, Navarre, the Basque Country, Castilla y León, Extremadura, and Murcia. Some parts of France, like the Basque Coast and Burgundy, also reported blackouts. In Málaga, power began returning after 4 p.m. local time, but police deployed to maintain public order as the city struggled with outages. Travelers across airports and train stations faced massive delays and long lines. Airline Iberia said its systems were fully operational but warned travelers to expect potential schedule changes. Meanwhile, the ATP Tour announced the suspension of all matches at the Madrid Open due to the power outage. ℹ️ Stay tuned for more updates! 🔄 Don't forget to subscribe for the latest news! #Blackout #Spain #Portugal #Madrid #Lisbon #BlackoutNews #EmergencyResponse
