This short video shows how to improvise in the klezmer style by playing a simple "Doina" - a rhythmically free solo which is similar to a cadenza in Western music or taksim in Arabic music. Step by step instructions with annotated graphics get you creating your own improvisation using a simple klezmer mode. It begins by teaching you the fingerings of the mode then improvising by adding one note at a time. Finally, learn how to add in klezmer inflections taught in other tutorials in Robin's series to create an authentic Doina. Learning to improvise in this manner will enhance your understanding of klezmer music in general and will increase your ability to ornament and inflect in other types of klezmer tunes such as Freylekhs, Turkishers, Bulgars, etc.
