Number 2259 is a house that owes its name to the plot of land it sits on, as marked by the authorities in Dapoli, Maharashtra. This plot measuring 4300 sq. ft. and nestled in greenery, passes on the beauty of its surroundings. The house is made completely from natural materials: Laterite stone for the walls, Kadappa stone for the floors, and teak wood for the roof frame and furniture.
Even traditional Mangalore made of clay is used for the roof. These natural materials are just a cosmetic touch; they are locally sourced, keep the place cool in summer, warm in winter, and will last for over 150 years.
