Bob Uecker, affectionately known as "Mr. Baseball," passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 90. The Milwaukee Brewers, with whom he had a broadcasting career spanning over five decades, announced his death. Uecker had been battling small cell lung cancer since early 2023. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1934, Uecker's association with baseball began as a player in the 1960s, including a World Series win with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. However, he gained widespread fame for his humor and charisma as a broadcaster, starting with the Brewers in 1971. Beyond broadcasting, Uecker appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," starred in the sitcom "Mr. Belvedere," and played announcer Harry Doyle in the "Major League" film series. He was honored with the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. Uecker is survived by his children, Sue Ann and Bob Jr., while two of his other children, Steve and Leeann, predeceased him.
