Embed Google Maps In WordPress Using A Plugin - Showcase Your Locations | WP Learning Lab

In this tutorial you will learn how to integrate Google Maps with your site using a WordPress Plugin. There are a lot of options out there, but for the purposes of this tutorial I'm going use the WP Google Maps plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-goog....

This plugin, as with most Google Maps plugins, has a free and a paid version. The free version is more than enough to put a basic map on your website. With the paid version you can do all sorts of advances stuff including service area maps and creating special map icons and descriptions.

To get started we need to install the plugin. To install this plugin please log into your WordPress dashboard, hover over Plugins and then click on Add New.

On the next page type "WP Google Maps" into the search bar. The plugin we want should be the first one in the top left.

Click on the Install Now button and then click Activate after it's installed.

Once install there will be a new menu item called Maps on the left hand side menu. Click on it to get started creating your first map.

When you are adding a new map, all you have to do is create a custom name for your map and then enter street address. You will be shown a shortcode as well.

When you are done creating your map, copy and paste the short code into any location that you want the map to appear. This can be in a page or a post or in a sidebar widget or in your footer or in a mega menu. There are a lot of options for where you can place a map.
