How to fix a usb plug that is bent | fix a bent or crushed USB cable

You will see later in this video that I have had some bad or damaged cables in the past. Damaged cables can cause electric shock or small explosions that can damage the cable, your device, or even yourself so ONLY do this at your OWN RISK.

Prolonged plugging and unplugging can loosen or completely disconnect the circuitry inside of a device, phone or tablet where the weak charging port connects to the internal circuitry. This is because the port is a little loose, and if you push the charging cable a little to force it into the port, the connection may be fine. Another reason a device might have a poor connection between the USB cable and the charging pins inside the USB port. The same happens if the cable is plugged directly into a computer or other USB port for charging; these ports can supply any current above 0.5 amps.

In this case the USB A side of the cable is physically damaged. It was brought to me since they could not plug in their printer and they don't know how it got like that but it's damaged to the point where it will not easily plug into the computer's USB port or a USB 3.1 hub.

Instead of a charger, use a cable to connect to a computer or other USB power source and see if your device will charge from it. Avoid using any random kind of charger adapters or charging cables to charge your phone, every phone has specific voltage requirements to charge it efficiently and your charger should meet these requirements. You may have changed the charging cable and your device is not charging or won't connect like if a printer or scanner device yet and you are absolutely sure that the charging cable is good, so you need to check the charger adapter and wall outlets next.

If you try to connect a USB device such as a charger or headphones, it may not be recognized if the cable is too damaged. One of the most common problems is that a notification appears that a USB device is connected without even plugging it in.

It seems that USB cables have become a lifeline in all matters related to the device; charging, data transfer, power delivery, etc. So it's a real nuisance when you find your USB cable has suddenly stopped working. Many people were afraid of accidentally bending the charging connector or USB cable but they are typically durable if you are careful. If the connector moves easily inside the USB port, it is very easy for the connector and charger to lose contact with each other during charging, even if you move the device slightly.

Debris can also get into the USB port, preventing the cable from staying in the USB port properly; in addition, the pins of the connector may bend when force is applied. The charger may not properly connect to the USB-C port or turn off at the slightest touch. Dirt, lint, or other debris in the phone jack prevents the cable from connecting properly.

While this type of cable is compatible with your device, it's a good idea to try a different cable before continuing but if you don't have one and can't buy one you may try this repair at your own risk. It's always better to have a cable that works well and is compatible with your device, but as with any industrial product, your USB cable can stop working, which, of course, can be very inconvenient. If the cable is new and stable but the device won't charge or connect at all, check the adapter, use a different cable, and if that doesn't work, buy a good quality replacement one.
