In contrast to last year's Climax Rag, Scott returns to a cheery & lighthearted theme not seen since 1910's Hilarity Rag! Right out the gate, we are introduced with an lovely invitation to the A section, which features enough bounce ideal for dance at public venues.

Hopping along to the B & C sections, they offer little syncopation compared to Scott's previous work, yet do so while providing wiggle room for dynamic interpretation. This especially comes in hand for the B's playful keyboard descent in the left hand while the C "sways away" in the right hand.

Wrapping up with a energetic B repeat & ending on a high note (or in reality, a high chord), "Evergreen" is certainly a work to put oneself in good spirits.
