A 94 year old man and his son sold a beat up Fender Stratocaster guitar to a Sam Ash Location. Sam Ash employees easily recognized that it's a genuine vintage Fender so they bought it from the old man for a price that they did not disclose.

The guitar still has all of its original parts with the exception of its modified tuning machines. Signatures of the original builders were found (including the famous Tadeo Gomez) and there is also a "#2" written under the neck, possibly indicating that this is the second Stratocaster ever made. There is also a January 1954 date on the neck which is a good indicator that the guitar is built within the first batch of guitars and could really be the second.

By enlarge, the guitar has typical features of most Stratocasters with a few exceptions. The knobs have a smaller skirt on them, the serial number is stamped onto the tremolo cover and NOT the neck plate, The body contours are more exaggerated and the finish is an almost transparent finish showing the beautiful ash grain. Bidding for this guitar is expected to start around $60,000.

The guitar is on display at the Sam Ash location in Midtown Manhattan. The music is my own song named "tattoo" and the solo was played on a Fender Stratocaster through a vintage fuzz face and into a 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb.
