If there's one fashion brand that epitomised the swinging sixties it was Biba. It started as a mail order company later becoming a seven-story department store, known for its mini skirts and then - in the early seventies - as the home of bell bottom trousers, floppy brimmed hats and billowing ostrich feather decorations.

Its success was built on the design brilliance of its founder Barbara Hulanicki.

As a new exhibition opens in London, telling the Biba story, Jane Dodge went to meet her.
