The Role of Intrinsic Disorder in Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation - Samrat Mukhopadhyay

Описание к видео The Role of Intrinsic Disorder in Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation - Samrat Mukhopadhyay

"The Role of Intrinsic Disorder in Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation", lecture by Samrat Mukhopadhyay, during SimBE 2021.

The condensation of biomolecules is emerging as a biological process used to rapidly control protein availability and function. Prof. Samrat Mukhopadhyay presents his recent work on a mutant form of the prion protein (PrP), demonstrating it forms liquid-like condensates in a process modulated by RNA. These findings bear strong implications in protein biology and also in the context of different human disorders.

The first edition of the Symposium on Structural Biology (SimBE 2021) was focused on the molecular mechanisms of human diseases associated with protein misfolding, including cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
November 9, 10, and 11th, 2021.
