Schenectady's favorite Scouser Barry Sutton has been a part of several bands, eventually joining The La's in 1989 as the lead guitarist and would perform the group's hit song, "There She Goes" in 1989 on television in London. Following him leaving the La's, Sutton joined former La's bassist, John Power's band, Cast where he also played guitar from 1992 until 1992. Following this, he would hold several performances around England, becoming some what of a well known figure. Today his focus is on building creative spaces for young musicians, largely through open mics across Liverpool City Centre, and creating new meanings for existing words, such as our host's hometown of 'Schenectady'.

The Red Shutter Club is a series where local musicians are interviewed to share their experience in the Liverpool music community. Interviewer Shannon Peterson is a musician and masters student, looking to study how artists find success through building brand image, among other things!
