Yesterday, after months of planning and thanks to a special partnership with the Beaver Trust (‪@beavertrust‬) we welcomed a family of Eurasian Beavers into their new home here on our 725-acre estate.

Hunted to extinction for centuries, these eco-system engineers, who boost biodiversity, enjoyed a quiet, calm and carefully orchestrated release into our historic lakeside setting. Thank you to all our visitors who supported us when we needed to close lakeside yesterday.

We’re pleased to share that they’re settling in well, tucking into the treats of apples, carrots and cabbage we left for them on the Island and our Beaver and Wildlife Ranger says they had a busy evening scouring every inch of the lake and checking out our Perseus statue!
