EP 121 Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy

"She Drives Me Crazy" is a song by British group Fine Young Cannibals that was released in 1988 as the first single from their second and final album, 1989's The Raw & The Cooked. It peaked at Number 5 on the British single charts as well as topping the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1989. It was also a Number One in Australia, Austria, Canada, New Zealand and Spain. The track was produced by the band and Prince associate David Z at Paisley Park Studios. The famous snare drum sound was created by the placing a speaker on top of the snare drum with a microphone below it. The original snare track was then played back with the microphone re-recording the output. This is probably one of the first instances of "reamping"

I prepared the backing track using the Moises.ai app. The bass on the original sounds as if it was created with a synth, probably a DX-7. For my version I played my Ibanez SR-500 into Reason via a Steinberg UR-44C interface. I then duplicated the track and pitched it down an octave to give a subbass type feel. I then mixed the parts together using compression and a little chorus.

The footage was filmed using a Samsung A41 smartphone using the Opencamera app. The onscreen tab was created by synching the Guitar Pro file with the audio track using Go PlayAlong 4 and capturing the result using NCH Debut. I then added the titles and edited everything together using DaVinci Resolve 17.
