Fifty years later, a small college town is still waiting for answers in one of New York’s most haunting cold cases.🔎

Katherine “Kathy” Kolodziej was just 17 years old and in her first semester at SUNY Cobleskill when she disappeared on November 2, 1974.

📍 She was last seen in the early morning hours leaving The Vault Tavern on Main Street in Cobleskill.

She left alone and never returned to her dorm room. Her roommate reported her missing, initiating a massive search.

But for almost a month,there were no answers. Until, on November 28, 1974, her body was discovered in a rural area off McDonald Road in Richmondville.

Her death was ruled a homicide. According to reports, she suffered multiple stab wounds, and police determined she was not killed where she was found. The place where she lost her life has never been found.

More than five decades later, the case remains active and unsolved with the New York State Police.

This case continues to haunt SUNY Cobleskill, and the surrounding Hudson Valley.
