Volumes Vahle-Johnkew Drums

After picking up this album not too long ago, I became drawn to the drumming, particularly the orchestration of complex kick drum patterns underneath a straight 4/4 cymbal/snare groove. Vahle and The Mixture really stood out to me. After hearing the groove starting at 3:05 in this video, and especially the fill at 3:30, I knew I had to give Vahle a try.

Even if you're not a fan of metalcore and the screaming, you have to respect the musicianship of these guys. I found their songs sticking in my head for several days after listening, which is an accomplishment for djent music with so much complexity.
