This vintage recipe features a flaky lard-based crust, a creamy filling packed with tender chicken, peas, carrots, and celery – everything you'd expect from a homemade chicken pot pie done the classic way. 🥧 Ingredients (US & Metric)

For the Filling:

2 cups cooked, diced chicken (300–350 g)
1 cup frozen peas (150 g)
½ cup carrots, diced (75 g)
½ cup celery, diced (75 g)
1 medium onion, finely chopped (100 g)
¼ cup butter (60 g)
¼ cup all-purpose flour (30 g)
2 cups chicken broth (480 ml)
½ cup milk (120 ml)
Salt and pepper to taste
½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)

For the Crust:

2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
1 tsp salt (5 g)
⅔ cup lard or shortening (130 g)
6–8 tbsp cold water (90–120 ml)
