Texas Weather Update: TX Storms Weaken Overnight, Hot And Dry Weekend Ahead

Описание к видео Texas Weather Update: TX Storms Weaken Overnight, Hot And Dry Weekend Ahead

After a destructive round of severe thunderstorms moved through the Houston metro and Southeast Texas, those storms are moving off the Golden Triangle and into the Gulf of Mexico. We likely experienced winds of 100 to 120 MPH in some regions, and damage survey crews will probably confirm a few spinup tornadoes over the coming days. It will take time to replace destroyed infrastructure, so some may be without power for quite some time.

Scattered severe storms in the Concho Valley will continue moving east this evening toward western portions of the Hill Country. Damaging wind gusts over 70 MPH, large hail, and heavy rainfall are expected with the most intense storms. The line or cluster of storms will begin weakening late this evening as it approaches North Texas, Central Texas, and the Hill Country. After 1 AM, we'll hopefully only have a few showers and well-behaved storms approaching I-35. They should completely dissipate shortly after that. Flooding across parts of the Brazos Valley, Piney Woods of East Texas, and Golden Triangle may continue for several days as waters slowly go downstream into Southeast Texas. Another flood wave may create an issue for folks near Interstate 10 from the Houston Metro toward Beaumont next week.

After 3 AM, isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in parts of South Texas, the Rio Grande Plains, Edwards Plateau, and Coastal Bend. The strongest storms will likely produce large hail, localized damaging wind gusts, and heavy rainfall. A tornado can't be ruled out. Activity will spread toward the Coastal Plains and Rio Grande Valley after sunrise. Some activity may make it up the coast into Southeast Texas. Friday evening through Sunday should be mostly dry across Texas. An isolated storm can't be ruled out east of the dryline late Sunday afternoon in the Texas Panhandle. Otherwise, our next more widespread chance for showers and thunderstorms will arrive on Tuesday.

This weekend, Texas will experience summer-like temperatures with mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will peak in the 90s and 100s, and southeasterly winds will accompany them.
