Travel Across America with Me. We have enjoyed touring Buckner Orchard every time we visit Stehekin Valley. We have seen bear wrestling apples out of the trees. We have picked apples several times and have also made cider from apple that we picked using the historic homestead cider presses. Thank you to the park ranger for making all the needed equipment freely available. We also enjoy all the crazy items you have placed around the property to add to the adventure. Stehekin is one of the most remote places in the Lower 48. Don't miss out on the adventure! Visitors arrive at this out-of-the-ordinary rustic resort primarily by ferry. Do your research before going there! Transportation is limited, only the locals have cars. Many rental cabins provide a vehicle—the main road is only 13 miles long. From fly fishing to Alpine hikes, this is an outdoorsman’s dream getaway. From picking your own apples to making fresh cider, the options are plentiful and always memorable. We have been to this uncommon resort six times and look forward to our seventh visit!
