Did you know Bethesda Fountain holds deep historical significance? It commemorates the opening of the Croton Aqueduct, which brought clean water to NYC in 1842. Back then, clean water was a lifeline for New Yorkers, bringing healing after years of disease outbreaks.

The mission of the Central Park Conservancy is to preserve and celebrate Central Park as a sanctuary from the pace and pressures of city life, enhancing the enjoyment and wellbeing of all.
