Pulitzer-winning playwright Tony Kushner spoke at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University in 2015. In response to a student's question, he gave insight into the process of writing.

Kushner is best known for his 1993 Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Angels in America” about the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. He was nominated for an Academy Award for “Lincoln," which was directed by Steven Spielberg.

The Crown Lecture in Ethics is named for benefactor Lester Crown. The lecture was established to bring speakers to Duke University to discuss ethical concerns in the arts, sciences, medicine, business and other fields.
