Silvertone 1485, Part 1: A Diamond in the Rough

This video series features the cosmetic and electronic restoration of a very rough Silvertone 1485 amplifier. Hopefully, you will be impressed by the dramatic transformation.

In Part 1, the head is dissected, stripped of it's hideous padded Naugahyde cover to reveal near-pristine original Tolex, the internal rats' nest is removed, and the components and metal surfaces are cleaned and polished. The reverb tank is disassembled, knobs are detailed, and broken joints in the cabinet are repaired.

There is an update on KC, the little orphan feral cat, and at the end, we begin a series on transforming a greasy, filthy Chevrolet 350 into a really nice hot rod engine.
