STORYLINE:
A months-long landslide condition in Rancho Palos Verdes, California has caused Gov. Gavin Newsom to proclaim a state of emergency.

The situation has led to some some homes being declared unlivable while other residents have had their electrical and gas services cut off.

The proclamation is aimed at freeing up state resources to assist in the response to the slides.
