Maize is one of the world's most significant food, forage, and industrial crops. Queen of the Cereals is the name of it. Among cereal crops, maize has the highest output per hectare. The tropical plant maize enjoys warm, muggy conditions. This plant has short days. It reacts strongly to both high and low soil moisture levels. It cannot withstand freezing at any stage of growth. Although maize may be cultivated on a range of soils, it thrives on those with good drainage.
Deep ploughing is beneficial for effective moisture conservation as well as weed management. After rice and wheat, maize is India's third-most significant cereal crop. Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh are the primary states where maize is grown.
