Fritz Sauckel wasn’t a soldier or a frontline killer. He was a bureaucrat—a pen-pusher who became one of the most lethal administrators of the Nazi regime. As Hitler’s General Plenipotentiary for Labor Deployment, Sauckel oversaw the forced recruitment, transportation, and exploitation of more than five million men, women, and children from across occupied Europe.

He coordinated raids, signed deportation orders, and turned entire regions into human stockpiles to fuel Germany’s war machine. Survivors of his system described starvation, brutality, and death in factories, mines, and fields. After the war, documents bearing his signature left no doubt of his guilt.

At the Nuremberg Trials, Sauckel claimed he was just a civil servant “doing his job.” But the court saw through his defense. He was sentenced to death and hanged in 1946. This documentary explores the dark bureaucracy that made genocide industrial—and the man who made it happen on paper.
