This non-institutional care is managed by district-level Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committees (SFCACs) and is for children defined by the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, who are in difficult circumstances but do not require institutional care.

 What Sponsorship Provides:
Financial Support: A monthly grant of Rs. 4,000 is provided to the child's extended family or biological relatives to support their care.

Needs Covered: The funds are for essential needs such as:
• Education
• Nutrition
• Health needs

 Who Is Eligible:
Vulnerable children who are in difficult circumstances but can remain with their families can be eligible:
• Children of widowed, divorced, or abandoned mothers.
• Orphaned children living with extended family members.
• Children of parents with life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
• Children of incapacitated parents who are unable to provide care.
• Children identified as needing care and protection under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, such as victims of abuse, trafficking, or homelessness.

 How It Works:
1. District-Level Committees:
State and UT governments establish a Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee (SFCAC) in each district, chaired by the District Magistrate.
2. Review and Sanction:
The SFCAC reviews and sanctions sponsorship for children needing preventive, non-institutional care.
3. Application:
Individuals or families seeking sponsorship can contact the District Child Protection Unit to inquire about the application process.
