These are the Top 7 largest country subdivision in the world. Many might quickly assume that Alaska, the largest U.S. state, holds the top spot. However, I was surprised to find out that Alaska is actually seventh largest subdivision globally. Canada’s territory of Nunavut—a vast expanse of land that surpasses the size of the entire country of Mexico holds the 5th position in the list. Nunavut's neighbour Greenland holds 5th position on the list .On the other side of the globe, Australia features two states named: Queensland and Western Australia. Yet, it’s Russia that dominates, claiming two enormous regions: the Krasnoyarsk Krai, ranked third, and the Sakha Republic, which takes first place. If the Sakha Republic were an independent nation, it would rank as the eighth largest country in the world, larger than nations like Argentina and Algeria.
