Note: this is not the original 1997 CD soundtrack. These are new mixes.

The whole soundtrack has gone through a subtle analogue lowpass. It is not too much of a difference, not enough to dull chromatic percussion too much, but it does make the album play more like the official Hexen II/Mageslayer/Heretic II CD soundtracks. In short, it makes the album play more as if it were produced by hardware synthesisers.

The soundtrack is available in two formats: 96/24 FLAC and CD image. The CD image is compatible with the original game, though you may have to load the original game CD (or its image) to avoid crashes and validate the CD check.

Mageslayer has to be run in "compatibility mode" for Windows 95 in 256-colour mode. Create a shortcut for the game's Mageslay.exe and check the compatibility flags.

Copyright note: Kevin Schilder has contacted the Activision legal department (copyrights for classic Raven Software games were sold to Activision) and they replied that any music can be used for non-commercial purposes freely. In other words, this soundtrack cannot be sold in any way on a CD or DVD, etc. without the permission of copyright holders. But it can be freely downloaded and played.
