Abstract:
We present the approach currently being developed by Siav S.P.A. to propose a more flexible alternative to traditional lexical search. Our approach allows us to combine the lexical component of the search with an additional component based on the use of word embeddings, capable of capturing the context of queries and documents. We explain the main steps carried out to realize this project, with particular focus on efficiency and response times.

Bio:
Stefano Delli Ponti is Head of Innovation in Siav. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded some companies of which he was CTO, such as EidosMedia, a leading company in Content Management in the media publishing sector, and PayTipper, a payment institution, which provides innovative, secure and high-level customization services, to satisfy needs of individuals, companies and commercial networks.

Gioele Perin is a Research Engineer at Siav S.P.A. Graduated from the University of Padua. His work concerns the research of applications and algorithms in the fields of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Daniele Turato is team leader of Siav research and development team, where he mainly focuses on projects related to Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval and Process Mining, also in the context of EU funded initiatives. He maintains a constant collaboration with universities, occasionally contributing to scientific publications.
