Honey & The Bees - Love Addict (1969) early MFSB soul funk co-written by Norman Harris & Thom Bell

This early Philly soul / funk masterpiece was co-written by Philly legends Norman Harris and Thom Bell, plus additional co-writers Bernard Broomer and Jimmy Bishop, who was the Program Director of Philadelphia's WDAS-FM during the sixties. It was arranged by Bobby Martin and released on Arctic Records, Bishop's own record label.

The late musical genius Norman Harris was a hugely influential giant of the golden soul era who wrote, produced, arranged, or played on hundreds of records in the 60s and 70s. He helped craft the Philly Sound as one of the core original members of MFSB, the backing group for Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's Philadelphia International Records (PIR).

Along with other original MFSB members Ronnie Baker (bass), drummer Earl Young, and fellow guitarist Bobby Eli, Harris was writing songs for other artists in the late 60s and playing on their tracks. Nearly all of them likely played on "Love Addict."

Later he joined forces with Baker and Young to form Baker-Harris-Young productions. He went to #1 R&B with "Sideshow" by Blue Magic (co-written by Bobby Eli and Vinny Barrett) when he produced and arranged their self-titled 1974 debut LP.

Some of the other acts Harris worked with included the Trammps, First Choice, the Dells, the Four Tops, the Temptations, the Whispers, Eddie Kendricks, Barbara Mason, Curtis Mayfield, Bunny Sigler, Joe Simon, South Shore Commission, Double Exposure, Love Committee, Loleatta Holloway, and his cousin Major Harris (formerly of the Delfonics and Nat Turner Rebellion).
