About the speaker:
Manuel Gonzalez-Sanz was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica in 2014 by President Luis Guillermo Solís. He was Minister for Foreign Trade from 2004 to 2006, and during his tenure Foreign Direct Investment reached the second highest amount in Costa Rican history. He was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations and its Specialized Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, from 2002 to 2004. He is an Attorney at Law and is partner at Facio & Cañas, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Costa Rica and Central America. His legal practice focused mainly on foreign investment, financial and corporate law. He was a professor at the Law School of the University of Costa Rica from 1990 to 1996. Minister Gonzalez obtained a Ll.M. at Columbia University Law School in 1995 and obtained his J.D. degree at Law School, University of Costa Rica in 1989.
