Minnesota Republican House and Senate leaders hold a news conference to kick-off their statewide push to reclaim a majority in the Minnesota House. During the news conference Senate Minority Leader David Hann tells the press that MNsure, Minnesota's version of Obamacare, has not been effective.
"I think of all the things that we did though this year, the one glaring omission is that we did nothing with health care. And everyone knows that this health care system that was put in place last year hasn't really worked out that well. 160 million dollars in cost. The result: about 240 thousand Minnesotans having to lose their health care, go out and try to find replacement health care. We've seen increased pressure in the private markets for growing premiums, and to date we do not know of any instance where someone who wasn't insured before is now insured. There has to be some serious reexamination of this way of solving or dealing with health care."

MNsure Director of Communications Marketing Joe Campbell says Hann's claim of not knowing of "any instance" is wrong. Campbell says he believes the broader point Hann was trying to make is they don't have an exact number of how many previously uninsured are now insured under MNsure. Campbell says MNsure is working with the University of Minnesota to determine that number. But Campbell says there are people who were previously uninsured who are now insured thanks to MNsure.
