Slenderman Motivated Two Girls to Do the Unthinkable

On May 31st, 2014 the lives of three girls changed forever, all because of Slenderman. That morning, Anissa Weier, Morgan Geyser, and Payton Leutner walked into a park in Waukesha, Wisconsin; only Anissa and Morgan walked out. The reason for the crime committed by those two girls, then only 12 years old, threw a previously little known genre of internet horror stories, known as "creepypastas" into the national news cycle. But what convinced the girls to do this? Who, or what, is Slenderman? Why did they believe he was real, and why did they think he wanted them to harm someone? Welcome back to The Lore Lodge...
