My name is Janice Affy. I'm a nurse practitioner in the pediatric Emergency department at Norton's Hospital. I, um, have worked with children and families my whole life. I find it a very hopeful op occupation because there's lots of growth to be accomplished on both sides of that. I started off my career as a social worker in, uh, child Protective Services. I worked in that position with children and families in foster care for several years before I went back to school and became a nurse. Uh, I worked in the burn unit at the Children's Hospital, and then I spent the majority of my nursing career as an emergency department nurse at the Children's Hospital. Uh, and later in life, after I raised my children, I went back to school and became an mp. Uh, and now I work as a provider in the emergency department. I've been with Norton Healthcare on and off since 1985.

I grew up in a small town about 40 miles from Louisville, and my family moved here when I was in high school. So I'm a small town person. My family came here because of my father's job, and I've stayed here because my family's here and my job has always been here in this area. I do love Kentucky. I have a sister who lives in South Florida, which is handy. I visit her frequently throughout the year when I need a perk to perk up. Um, I read, I have a large group of friends that I enjoy going out with and, and having fun time with.
