Welcome to Pom-Pom's Puppy Pen! Pom-Pom (short for 'Pompeii') is one of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. She is a blenheim, and since she was mated with our blenheim stud (Spike) all of her pups will be blenheim. Her pups were born November 14, 2022. As you can see, she has a very small litter. She delivered three puppies, but one was very small and unable to make it. We took that loss pretty hard. If you didn't get an opportunity to 'meet' Little Girl, the videos linked below introduce her.
You will see us work on their potty training. We potty train them using pine pellets designed for rehydration. During these exercises we have Mama Dog 'potty' the pups in the pellets, which we purposefully begin before they open their eyes. This is because their senses of smell and touch are both heightened, and therefore they associate the scent of the pine and the feel of the pellets with going potty. The more we potty them in the pine, the more they want to seek out the pine for going poop and potty. The timing is important because as they get older, they crawl away from their nest to potty and poop - so we want them to go to the pellets!
'Little Boy' is wearing the orange collar and we are currently waiting to find out what his real name is. His eyes began opening when he was 12 days old and he woke up the next morning with his complete vision and hearing! During these first few days with new vision and hearing, we expect him to seem a little more timid and unsure, which is why we keep them in our bedroom as they adjust. We don't want to move them out into the busy area of our home until they feel more secure with these senses as that may overwhelm them and then give them an unpleasant experience when we are trying to socialize and desensitize them to light and noise.
'Fat Man' is wearing the brown collar and doesn't yet have his family, but when they find him we will let viewers know what his real name is too! His eyes and ears have not begun opening yet, but any day now they will be.
So what's next for us? Well, we have two of the sweetest baby boys whose precious lives we are going to be sharing with you - from fattening up in the early days, to seeing them use their eyes and hearing voices for the first time, and then walking and playing, seeing them learn commands and where to go potty, and celebrating with us as they achieve each milestone and at every silly thing they do. Our puppies never fail to bring us such joy, and we love to share it with others who enjoy and appreciate the infinite love and happiness that Cavaliers bring to the world. We also like to use the opportunity to share with you the different methods we use to help raise our puppies to embody the affectionate, loving, docile nature that their breed is intended to be.

Paris is another one of our mama dogs; she is actually a littermate to Pom-Pom. She is expecting her first litter of puppies December 30th. We were unable to livestream the delivery of Pom-Pom's litter, so we are going to make sure we livestream the delivery of Paris' litter.

Unlike most animal livestreams, we encourage our viewers to engage and ask us questions! We raise our puppies not just in our home, but rather where we are spending most of our time that they are developmentally ready for. Our young puppies, for example, are currently located in our bedroom. We leave the audio on so that viewers are always able to hear the puppies' adorable squeaks, purrs, "barks," howls, and more, but that means you may overhear some personal interactions. We prefer this format because we are able to easily provide context or clarity to viewers if necessary. We show you how we potty train our puppies starting as early as a week old, and how we nurture their training throughout their 8 weeks with us to hand off a well-trained puppy to their family.
