GreenRE held our inaugural Sustainability Design Awards (SDA) 2018 on the 22nd of November 2018 at Wisma Rehda, Petaling Jaya. YB Pn Yeo Bee Yin, Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), was the Guest of Honour delivered the Opening address.

In their endeavour to raise awareness and promote green buildings, GreenRE has gained support from major developers to sign a pledge for sustainable development via a Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC). During the SDA 2018 ceremony, the first 24 MOC signatories marked their commitment on the MOC pledge board to signify their serious commitment towards green development. Prominent developers, namely Bandar Utama Development Sdn Bhd, Eastern & Oriental Bhd, Glomac Bhd, IJM Land Bhd, Mah Sing Properties Sdn Bhd, MKH Bhd, Paramount Properties Development Sdn Bhd, SP Setia, Sunway Integrated Properties Sdn Bhd and Hap Seng Land Sdn Bhd were signatories of this MOC.

24 illustrious GreenRE certified projects under the Silver, Gold and Platinum category were presented awards at the SDA 2018 ceremony. Projects such as Menara Etiqa by Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad, EPF Building@Kwasa Damansara, Encomas House by Encomas Sdn Bhd, Wisma Paramount Bukit Banyan by Paramount Property (Utara) Sdn Bhd and PNB 118 by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd were awarded the most prestigious rating, Platinum Award. Secoya Residences Pantai Sentral Park by IJM Land, Tropicana Avenue by Tropicana Corporation Berhad and Sunway Serene by Sunway Properties, were some of the Gold Projects awarded.

This event will also witnessed the launch of GreenRE’s 7th green rating tool, the Industrial Rating Tool. It is a refinement to GreenRE’s non-residential building tool, with further emphasis on energy efficiency, inter-connectivity and environmental impact specific to industrial facilities. The aim of this tool is to establish environmentally friendly practices for the planning, design and construction of industrial facilities.
