The programmes for Architecture and City and Regional Planning at BTU Cottbus have an excellent reputation in Germany. Students gain insights into the relation between engineering, design and construction, and express their creativity in various architectural projects.

The university studios are places for exchange of ideas, not only among students, but also between students and professors.
BTU Cottbus is known for its excellent study environment and facilities for students.

The faculty also takes an active part in developing strategies for towns in the former CIS and in the Middle East, with particular focus on the rehabilitation of historic cities. Scientists and students travelled to Jordan and developed an urbanistic concept for unoccupied quarters in the town centre.

The World Heritage Studies programme was established within the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning in 1999. It was designed in response to the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and is based on a generalist, multidisciplinary approach.

The curriculum is structured in four study areas.

World Heritage Studies aims to train future heritage experts who will be able to understand, protect, interpret and effectively manage cultural and natural heritage assets. Although relevant for various professional fields, the studies focus on the UNESCO World Heritage Programme.

The World Heritage Studies programme offers the advantage of a truly international student community, gathering participants from very diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. Every year, students from all corners of the world (more than 35 countries) come to Cottbus, engaging in a rich exchange of ideas.

We hope you will join them too!
