The Italian Embassy in Madrid, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid, presents the jewelery exhibition "Dante's Precious Path - The Divine Comedy in the jewels of Percossi Papi", with works from the atelier of famous Italian jeweler Diego Percossi Papi.

From March 24, 2023, the Sala de Bóvedas of the Plaza Mayor will host his artistic reinterpretation of the "Divine Comedy". Andrea Levy Soler, Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the City of Madrid, will take part in the inauguration of the exhibition.

The artist and his family are renowned all over the world for the creation of jewels with a unique and unmistakable style, which they design and create in their atelier in Rome, a stone's throw from the Pantheon. With knowledge and skill, they work metals and stones with a highly personalized reinterpretation of the ancient cloisonné technique. Their creations are a symbol of Italian genius, craftsmanship, creativity and style, a genuine expression of the Italian artistic and cultural heritage.

The exhibition

Through jewels and art objects, embellished with stones and pearls, the public will be led on a journey through the stages of one of the immortal works of world literature, "The Divine Comedy". Poetry, art, history, science, mathematics, politics and humanity come together in the pages of the poem, whose message is universal. The Italian jeweler, recognizing the value of the work
literature, wanted to pay homage to the great writer of the "Dolce stilnovo" through wonderful and suggestive creations capable of evoking unique and surprising sensations and emotions through the colors and symbolism of the objects.

"Dante's imagination is visual" wrote Thomas Stearns Eliot and, in fact, Diego Percossi Papi was able to visualize and materialize the writer's imagination with great skill through his art, giving life to a compelling dialogue between jewelry and literature. The pieces, installations and photographic elements interpret in their own way the events, protagonists and metaphors described by Dante throughout the work.
