Pink Floyd tier list #1

Описание к видео Pink Floyd tier list #1

Every studio album by legendary band which only had five official members throughout relatively complex history. Also included are two live discs and one EP comprised of early singles.

1967: The first Three Singles 5.75/B most of what little’s included can be found elsewhere but still essential for Sixties’ progressive lovers
Piper…Dawn 9/A their full album with drug casualty Syd Barrett; mostly enjoyable
A saucerful of Secrets 6/B either worthwhile or phoned-in stuff, Richard Wright ending up main offender
Soundtrack from the film More 6.7/B+ surprisingly good work albeit most instrumentals contained are forgettable
Ummagumma 6.1/B four lively covers (i.e. their material on stage) plus the band’s weirdest studio tracks ever!
Atom heart Mother 7/B+ one more “grower” as PF continues unbelievable progress; side two remains largely timeless
Meddle 8.2/A- despite two pretty much useless pieces book-ending first half: a wonderful release that stands as their second huge winner
Obscured by Clouds 7.2/B+ largely overlooked soundtrack in between two monsters by influential quartet sounds quite impressive though isn’t exactly spectacular
Dark side of the Moon 8.7/A much better than post-1967 catalogue sonically + even in terms of vocal/instrumental prowess, yet a little calculated with sound effects overused
Wish You were Here 9.1/A first of two heavyweights marred only because of second track whereas remainder is killer
Animals 9.2/A their best possibly could’ve benefited from shorter pieces but from a hater's view nothing reeks of serious time-wasting for a change
The Wall 7.5/B+ huge letdown after previous trio does at least several amazing songs including two huge radio anthems*
The final Cut 5.25/B- too lyrically-based while David Gilmour & Nick Mason seem like guests on a Roger Waters project
A momentary lapse of Reason 5.8/B sounds like vintage PF yet lacks more than a couple great songs
Delicate sound of Thunder n/a
The Division Bell 5.4/B- second album without RW does thankfully feature Wright’s return for some variety—too bad everything seems homogenous
Endless River 5.7/B quite likeable despite merely one actual song (vocals help), most of the rest bland or good as background muzak
The dark side of the Moon live at Wembley 1974 5.9/B pales in comparison although still okay disc for the completist or PF lover only

Another dick in the Wall, part deux = inevitable sellout continues to please disco-lovers
