The alleged assault of Gabriella Engels by the First Lady of Zimbabwe Grace Mugabe continues to make headlines. The incident is said to have happened at a hotel in Sandton, where Mugabe hit the young model with an extension cord. According to Gabriella, she and two friends were visiting Mugabe's two sons at the hotel, when Mrs Mugabe showed up and attacked the women. The incident has caused a diplomatic controversy, with some legal experts saying since Mugabe was in the country in her personal capacity, she does not qualify for diplomatic immunity. The issue is made more complicated by the presence of President Robert Mugabe
in the country, for the upcoming SADC's 37TH Ordinary Summit of Heads of State. Meanwhile, civil rights organisation Afriforum has made an undertaking to help. Gabriella with her impending legal battle. But will it be in the interest of justice to grant Mrs Mugabe diplomatic immunity?
