(AP) President Donald Trump said Friday he's "absolutely ashamed" by Supreme Court justices who voted to strike down his tariffs, calling the decision "deeply disappointing."

The high court struck down Trump’s sweeping unilateral tariffs, ruling in a 6-3 decision that his use of an emergency powers law to set import duties without Congress was illegal.

His loss before the conservative-majority high court came despite a series of short-term Trump wins that have allowed him to move ahead with key aspects of his broad agency.

He shaped the court by appointing three of the nine members.

Legal opposition to the tariffs crossed the political spectrum.
