Features I like about this radio:
NOAA weather band reception is excellent.
FM reception is great.
SW reception with an optional Kaito T-1 wire is good.
AM reception is amazing for an emergency radio.
Brighter and Rounder flashlight then the KA500.
Dynamo.
Flip up Solar Panel.
Reading lamp.
Alert Mode.
Optional AC adapter.
Larger knobs then the KA500.
Normal Plastics vs. the soft touch type.
Color Combination looks nice.
Battery Level indicator LEDs.
Headphone jack sounds good.
Speaker audio is decent.
Simple layout.
Carrying handle.

Features that could be added or improved on:
Better dial calibration.
A separate light option for the radio's dial.
Knobs that line up.

Overall, if your looking at this radio and the KA500, it all comes down to personal preference. Equal price, both have good looks, you can't go wrong with either one. I prefer this model to the very popular KA500.
