Deeper Inside Project Democracy: The Emancipation Proclamation

This is a special edition version of our series to celebrate Juneteenth day. It features an interview we did with NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Henry E. Frye and his wife Shirley in 2015 as part of our exhibit "The Emancipation Proclamation: Voices to Freedom."

In a measured but passionate tone, Dr. King reviewed the history of human rights in America, noting that the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation had fallen far short of achieving equality for all of its citizens.
