A strategy I didn't utilize much in my Atreides campaign (and so of course I felt the need to abuse it this time round), Was the old 'steal the enemies base with engineers' gaff. I think a combination of this and the fact that the Ordos campaign is generally quite a bit tougher to this walk-through being a bit longer than the last. This will allow you to use the enemies technology and if you capture the emperors palace, you gain access to the sardaukar, the most powerful infantry in the game.

In the missions were you have the mercenaries as allies, you will need to sacrifice some of you're troops. If the mercenaries sustain too many casualties and you do not, they will turn on you, which is a bit of an arse because you kind of want to be building up your production and defences rather than sending troops out. Still it's better to lose a few troops that have a new enemy whose base is right next to you're own.
