2-14-2024 This baby grey seal came ashore to rest on Valentines Day. This video is a from two days of observation on the 14th and 15th. The baby seal appeared to be in good health. It was seen crawling its way up into the dunes. The baby seal finally passed out for a much needed nap once it reached the height if the dune and felt fully protected. Baby Seals are common visitors to the Outer Banks in the winter. If you come across one stay back at least 150 feet and let it rest. You can call and report it to the local Marine Mammal rescue for Dare county at 252-455-9654. They will send out volunteers to assess its condition and watch over it until it returns to the ocean.
