The Stone of Fate, also known as the Stone Of Scone, is a block of sandstone with a great historical significance. Since at least 1249, it was used in the ceremonies of crowning of the Scots kings. In 1296, the history of the stone changed drastically when King Edward I of England confiscated it and transferred it to the Abbey of Westminster, where it remained for 700 years. During that time, the stone became a symbol of subjugation of the scots. The fact that almost all the English and British monarchs were crowned upon it. It was not until 1996 that the stone returned to Scotland. An event crucial in stone history occurred in the early Christmas 1950s, when a bold stone was made.
