All three defendants charged in a triple homicide in Coon Rapids have now been convicted by juries, following the Dec. 12 conviction of Omari Malik Shumpert on multiple murder charges.

According to court records, Shumpert was convicted on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder under an aiding and abetting theory, three counts of first-degree murder with intent while committing a felony, and three counts of second-degree murder with intent. He was acquitted on one additional count of first-degree premeditated murder.

All charges stem from a Jan. 26, 2024, home-invasion shooting at a residence on 94th Avenue Northwest in Coon Rapids that left three people dead. The victims were identified by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office as Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, 42; her husband, Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, 39; and Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, 20.

Under Minnesota law, a conviction on any first-degree murder charge carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The two other defendants charged in the case — Demetrius Trenton Shumpert and Alonzo Pierre Mingo — were also convicted on murder charges in separate proceedings related to the same incident. Demetrius Trenton Shumpert, Omari Malik Shumpert’s brother, was convicted Nov. 19 and is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 8, 2026.

Court records show Mingo was sentenced Sept. 11. A notice of appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court was filed on his behalf Dec. 3.

Omari Malik Shumpert is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. Jan. 9, 2026, in Anoka County District Court.
