Inflation, supply chain issues causing higher prices for Thanksgiving turkeys

Inflation and supply chain issues are threatening to take a bite out of your budget ahead of Thanksgiving.

The USDA reports whole frozen turkeys costing about a quarter more than last year.

Some turkeys and labor are in short supply. While you may just be starting to plan your Thanksgiving meal, local vendor Mike Luken has been preparing for his busiest holiday since September.

Luken owns Luken’s Poultry, Fish and Seafood at Findlay Market.

He put in his order for turkeys months ago and bought hundreds extra.

“We have a very good supplier. I bought all my turkeys in September. I added extra on because I knew we were going to have a problem,” Luken said.
