On 22 April 2025, a terrorist attack at Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam in the Anantnag district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir killed at least 26 tourists and injured more than 20 others.

The Pahalgam attack occurred on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir. Here's what we know about the attack ¹:
*Location*: The attack took place in a popular tourist spot, Baisaran Valley, about 7 km from Pahalgam town.
*Target*: Hindu tourists, specifically male tourists, were targeted by the attackers.
*Attack type*: Mass shooting and mass murder, classified as Islamist terrorism.
*Perpetrators*: The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
*Number of participants*: Five militants were involved in the attack.
*Motive*: The attackers cited opposition to alleged non-local settlement in Kashmir, claiming it was driving demographic changes.
