**I realized when I rewatched this that I referred to a "65% five apple rating!" :D This does NOT mean that only 65% of my ratings are five apples! That would be terrible! What I mean is that I have an average feedback rate in the mid-sixties. Around 65% of my parents leave feedback. My five apple rating percentage is over 99%. The point is, you don't have to give points "anyway" for a kid with no project, and parents do like being kept in the loop!

How many times have you heard VIPKID teachers say that kids "never" bring their unit projects? When I was a brand-spanking-new teacher, I had that problem, too! Now it's very rare for one of my students to show up for a Lesson 12 Unit Assessment without a project. Watch this video to find out what has worked for me, and feel free to use the feedback templates below:

Parent Feedback (No Project):

[name] did not have his final project today. It may be helpful to know that there is a final project due during Lesson 12 of every unit. The project is worth 10% of [name]'s total assessment score. Students receive the project instructions at the end of Lesson 5. Students should receive reminders about the project during Lessons 6 and 11 of every unit. Now you can even photograph or scan and upload the project before the Lesson 12 Assessment. This allows [name] and I to view it onscreen, which makes it easier to discuss! When I teach [name] for lessons 5, 6, or 11, I include the project directions in the parent feedback. They are also listed in [name]'s VIPKID workbook for your convenience.
